Men’s Golf Ties For Second at Own Knight Invitational

PIERSON—Slogging through on-and-off again rain showers, trhe Calvin men’s golf team tied for second at its own Knight Invitational Tuesday afternoon at the Pilgrim’s Run Golf Course, posting a team score of 314 strokes. Davenport took first with 307 strokes while Calvin and Cornerstone tied for second.

Calvin’s top individual finisher was senior Jess Hendriksma who took second with an even-par round of 73. Senior Eric Doezema was next at 79 with sophomore Ben Kuiper carding an 80, freshman Ross Ryzenga an 82 and sophomore Dave Sarkipato an 87. Competing as individuals for Calvin were freshman Jake Hoogstrate with an 82, sophomore Mike Fennema with an 85, freshman Mark Allen with an 87 and freshman David Veen with a 91.

Kale Waaso of Davenport was the tournament medalist with a round of 70.

Calvin returns to action on Friday when it competes in the Hope/Calvin Rivalry Invitational at the Wuskowhan Player’s Club at 9 a.m.
