Men’s Golf Takes Third at MIAA Jamboree - Moves Into Second in Overall MIAA Standings

ANGOLA, IN – Calvin moved into sole possession of second place in the overall MIAA standings with a third place finish at an MIAA jamboree hosted by Trine University Saturday afternoon at the Zollner Golf Club.
Calvin posted a third place team score of 294 strokes with host Trine winning with a score of 275 and Adrian placing second with a score of 286. Hope was a stroke behind Calvin with a team score of 295.
Trine now holds a 27-stroke lead over Calvin for first place in the overall MIAA standings through three league outings. Calvin is three strokes ahead of Olivet and five strokes ahead of Hope.
Calvin’s top individual on Saturday was senior Jess Hendriksma (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) with a 70 that was good for a tie for fifth place. Sophomore Dave Sarkipato (Kalamazoo/Kalamazoo Christian HS) and senior Eric Doezema (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) had rounds of 75 while sophomore Ben Kuiper (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) and junior Jake DeBoer (Byron Center/South Christian HS) had rounds of 76.
Playing as an individual, Calvin freshman David Veen (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) also had a round of 72.
Adrian’s Jordan Kelly earned medalist honors with a score of 65.
Calvin returns to action next Tuesday when it competes at an MIAA jamboree hosted by Kalamazoo at Milham Park Golf Club.
