Men’s Golf in 10th Place Through Day One of Olivet Lou Collins Memorial Tournament

BATTLE CREEK - The Calvin men’s golf team is in 10th place with a team score of 311 through the first day of competition at the Olivet College Lou Collins Memorial Tournament. The tournament is taking place at the Bedford Valley Country Club.
Owens Community College currently leads the 17-team field with a first day team score of 298.
Junior James Van Noord (Troy/Troy Athens HS) led Calvin with a round of 75 that was good for a tie for 12th place individually. Senior Mark Allen (Oconomowoc, WI/Lake Country Lutheran HS) was next with a 76 for the Knights while senior Jake Hoogstrate (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) had a 77.
Rounding out Calvin’s lineup were sophomore Justin Crow (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) with an 83 and senior Ross Ryzenga (Holland/Holland Christian HS) with a 92.
Tommy Cardle of Wheaton and Philip Weppernig of Owens CC had the top scores on Friday with rounds of 70.
