Men’s Golf Finishes Seventh at Muskingum Invitational

NEW CONCORD, OH—The Calvin men’s golf team placed seventh at the two-day Muskingum College Invitational this past weekend, recording a 36-hole team score of 616 strokes.

Mount Union won the invitational with 570 strokes while host Muskingum was second (597).

Contributing to Calvin’s team score were junior Jon Kuiper with a 148 (76-72), sophomore Jess Hendriksma with a 150 (74-76), junior Tyler Smies with a 158 (76-82), fresman Jake DeBoer with a 162 (83-79) and freshman Brennen Volbeda with a 163 (82-81).

Kuiper finished tied for 11th while Hendriksma was tied for 15th.

Also competing for Calvin but doing so individually were freshman Brian Haverdink with a 155 (75-80), freshman Kyle Vander Wal with a 156 (78-78) and junior Kyle Harvey with a 161 (77-84).

Scott Miller of Mount Union was the tournament medalist with a 139 (70-69).

Calvin will next compete at the A.C. Eddy Classic hosted by Trine University on April 8.
