Men’s Golf finishes Fourth at Knight Invitational

CALEDONIA, MI - The Calvin men’s golf team competed in a nine team, one round tournament at Thornapple Pointe Golf Course.  The Knights, who won the program’s second MIAA conference championship in history in the fall, finished in fourth place.  Davenport won the invitational with a team score of 318.  Calvin finished with a score of 331.

Junior Mark Allen (Oconomowoc, WI/Lake Country Lutheran) finished second individually with a round of 78 - 39 on the front nine followed by the same score on the final nine holes.  Freshman Justin Crow (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian) turned in a round of 81 (38-43) while juniors Jake Hoogstrate (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian) and Ross Ryzenga (Holland/Holland Christian) both shot rounds of 86.

Freshman Ben Elenbaas (Byron Center/South Christian) shot 45 on both nines, and finished with a round of 90.

Calvin returns to action Fri., Apr. 19, when it hosts the second of three MIAA Spring Tournaments at Watermark Country Club.  The tournament is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
