Calvin’s four graduating teammates gave themselves a memorable farewell in their final home game as Knights.

Calvin tallied 115 points en route to a 115-65 victory.  Seniors Danny Rodts, Trent Salo, Brad Schnyders, and Brent Schuster combined for combined for 72 of that prolific scoring total,

Calvin’s highest since 2001 and first 100 point effort in the Van Noord Arena.

The Knights shot a scorching 66.7% percent from beyond the arc, going 16 of 24, just two shy of matching Calvin’s all-time record for three pointers in a game.

Calvin pulled ahead early, taking a 14 point lead just six minutes into the game.  Calvin didn’t look back from there.  Schuster knocked down one of his four three’s to take the Knights into halftime with a 55-33 advantage.

Calvin came out of the break in the same manner.  Rodts hit an early three, increasing Calvin’s lead to 25.  The Knights’ offense never slowed and remained unselfish all game.  Calvin finished with 27 assists and only 11 turnovers.

Freshman Jordan Brink added to his seniors’ send-off with some second half numbers.  Brink scored all 16 of his points in the second half, posting a combined 9-9 shooting from both the field and the free throw line.

Rodts finished with 12 points and five rebounds.  Salo chipped in 13 and three assists.  Schnyders had 16 points and 5 rebounds.  And Schuster led all scorers with 21 points and 7 rebounds.

“Before the game, we said we wanted to send our four seniors off with a great game because they’ve given us an awful lot over four years,” said Coach Kevin Vande Streek.  He continued, “We also wanted to build momentum going into the conference tournament.”

The Knights did just that.

With the win, the Knights are now tied with Albion at 7-5 in league play while Adrian, Kalamazoo and Olivet are a game behind at 6-6.Calvin will travel to Trine on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. contest. Trine has won its last three games including four of its last five.
