Men’s Basketball Suffers First Defeat of Year in Loss at Wheaton

WHEATON, IL - In a matchup of unbeaten teams, Wheaton claimed a 54-37 victory over Calvin Friday night at the CCIW/MIAA Challenge. Calvin falls to 6-1 overall while Wheaton climbs to 5-0.
Calvin’s 37-point total was its lowest since a 45-36 loss to Olivet in 1982.
Wheaton’s defense put the clamps on the Calvin offensive attack as the Knights shot just 29.4 percent from the floor. Meanwhile the host Thunder connected on 8-of-15 attempts from three-point range including 7-of-10 in the first half, en route to taking a 32-20 halftime lead.
Calvin was led in defeat by senior Tom Snikkers who scored 11 points to move past Dan Davis and into 14th place on the Calvin career scoring list. Sophomore Jordan Brink added 10 points for the Knights.

Calvin will face Carthage on Saturday at 2 p.m. (EST).
