Men’s Basketball Picked as Co-Favorite/Women’s Basketball Picked Second in MIAA Coaches’ Poll

The MIAA men’s and women’s basketball pre-season coaches’ polls have been announced. On the men’s side, Calvin has been picked as the MIAA co-favorite with Hope. Both teams received four first place votes and four second place votes, creating a tie with 10 points apiece. Olivet was picked to finish third.

On the women’s side, Calvin was picked to finish second behind defending champion Hope. Hope received six first place votes while Calvin received two. Saint Mary’s was picked to finish third.

The Calvin men’s basketball team is scheduled to open its season on November 20 when it hosts its own Calvin Tip-Off Tournament. The Knights will take on Grace Bible College in a first round game with Davenport and Lake Forest College meeting in the other first round game. The Calvin men will also host Ferris State University on November 10 in an exhibition game, slated to start at 7:30 p.m.

The Calvin women’s basketball team is scheduled to open its season on November 17 when it hosts Cornerstone University at 7:30 p.m. at the Van Noord Arena.
