Mens Basketball Nipped By Ferris State 63-62 in Exhibition

BIG RAPIDS - The Calvin men’s basketball team faced off against Ferris State in an exhibition game Tuesday evening.  Calvin fell behind 43-23 at halftime, but battled back to within a single point.  The Knights had two shots to win the game, but fell to the Bulldogs 63-62.

Several Knights scored in double figures.  Junior center Tyler Kruis led the Knights with 15 points and five rebounds.  Junior Mickey De Vries tallied 11 points and eight rebounds.  Seniors Bryan Powell and Tom Snikkers as well as sophomore Jordan Brink added ten points apiece. 

Calvin shot just 26.7 percent in the first half and 34.5 percent for the game.  Calvin turned up the defense in the second half.  The Bulldogs shot 48.5 percent in the first half compared to just 28.5 percent in the second half. 

Calvin will open up its season November 16, when it faces Grace Bible College in the Calvin Tip-Off Tourney.
