NEW DELHI, INDIA - Megann (VanderVliet) Rhode, a 2007 Calvin College graduate, has advanced to the finals of the hammer throw competition at the Commonwealth Games.

Representing the Canadian track and field team, Rhode produced the fourth-best throw in the preliminaries of Wednesday’s hammer throw competition.
A native of Oakville, Ontario, Rhode competed in the second flight of throwers. She fouled on her first two attempts but then uncorked a throw of 62.06 meters (203-7 feet) that was good for second place in her flight and fourth place overall through the prelims.
