ROYAL OAK, Mich.  – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Calvin goalkeeper Lauren Spoelstra its Defensive Player of the Week in women’s lacrosse for games played through March 16.

Spoelstra, a senior from Oakland, N.J. (Eastern Christian HS), made six saves on 14 shots on goal in leading Calvin to a 15-8 victory over Robert Morris, Ill. She also had two ground balls and caused one turnover. Spoelstra is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

Calvin is currently 2-2 on the year and scheduled to return to action on March 22 when it travels to Georgetown College of Kentucky for a non-conference game. Calvin was scheduled to face Aquinas this evening but that match has been postponed because of weather. A makeup date has not yet been set.
