Knights Triumphant at Trine

ANGOLA, IN—The nationally-ranked Calvin women’s volleyball team moved up three spots in the national poll on Wednesday afternoon and then went out and defeated Trine University in three sets a few hours later to improve to 5-1 overall and to 2-0 in the MIAA. Now ranked 18th in the latest AVCA Division III Top 25 poll released Wednesday afternoon, Calvin defeated host Trine 25-14, 27-25, 25-20 Wednesday evening inside Trine’s Hershey Hall.
Freshman Rebecca Kamp (Tinley Park, IL/Chicago Christian HS) continued her strong play with 16 kills, nine digs, three blocks and an attack percentage of .467. Freshman Erin VanderPlas (Northern Michigan Mcbain Christian HS) added six kills while senior Jessica Garlick (Kalamazoo Christian HS) chipped in with five kills. Junior Kelsey Sears (Traverse City/Traverse City West HS) recorded 14 digs. Senior setter Lauren DeGroot (Tulare, CA) also had 31 assists for the Knights.
