Joe Lambers Named MIAA Pitcher of the Week in Baseball

ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Calvin lefthander Joe Lambers its Pitcher of the Week for games played through April 30. Lambers, a senior from Grosse Pointe (Grosse Pointe South HS), teamed up with Nate Schepers to throw Calvin’s first no-hitter ever in an MIAA game as the Knights defeated Albion, 6-2. Lambers struck out eight and walked two in five innings of work as Calvin recorded the first no-hitter in an MIAA game since 2009. He also struck out seven and allowed two earned runs in 5-1/3 innings in a 4-1 loss to Alma. Lambers is being honored as Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his career.
