Calvin College sophomore Carissa Verkaik has added another honor to her growing list of basketball awards. On Friday morning, Verkaik was named a State Farm Division III Honorable Mention All-American by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. There are 10 individuals named to the State Farm Division III All-America squad and 30 individuals listed as State Farm Honorable Mention All-Americans. Of the 40 names, Verkaik is the only sophomore listed with the remaining 39 names either juniors or seniors.

Earlier this week, Verkaik was named the Great Lakes Region Player of the Year and also landed a spot on the Great Lakes All-Region first team. She is eligible for All-America honors with the All-America teams scheduled to be released Saturday night at halftime of the NCAA III Championship game in women’s basketball. The announcement will be made on the audio broadcast of the national title game.
