Carissa Verkaik Named MIAA Field Athlete of the Week in Women’s Track & Field

ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has announced its Athletes of the Week in track and field for meets through March 31. Olivet sprinter James Williams and Adrian sprinter Senneca Scott have been named the Athletes of the Week in track events, while Adrian thrower Jacob Mehr and Calvin high jumper Carissa Verkaik were recognized as Athletes of the Week in field events. Verkaik, a junior from Holland (Holland Christian HS), took first place in the high jump at the Grand Rapids Open meet with a jump of 5 feet, 5 inches. Verkaik’s leap is tops in the MIAA this season and tied for fourth nationally in Division III.
