Calvin Women’s Swimming and Diving Takes First Place at Own Triangular

The Calvin women’s swimming and diving team took first place at a triangular that included Albion and Ohio Northern this weekend. Over the course of the two-day meet, Calvin tallied a first place total of 1059.5 points with Albion second with 929 points and Ohio Northern third at 893.5.
Individual winners from Calvin on Saturday included:
*Junior Kathryn Wrobel (Arden Hills, MN/Moundsview HS) in the 200 freestyle (2:01.08).
*Sophomore Michaela Rookus (Hudsonville/Hudsonville HS) in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.17) and 100 freestyle (54.93).
*Senior Elizabeth Schleh (Mount Vernon, WA/Academy Northwest HS) in the 1,650 freestyle (18:57.29).
*Junior Lexi Scott (Richmond, IN/Richmond HS) in the 200 breaststroke (2:32.94.
*Calvin’s 400 freestyle relay team of freshman Adrienne Wesselius (Sioux Center, IA/Unity Christian HS), Rookus, senior Kristen Kinzer (Fort Wayne, IN/Homestead HS) and Wrobel also took first place in a time of 3:45.97 as did its 800 freestyle relay team of Rechel, junior Erika Waugh (Berne, IN/South Adams HS), Wrobel and junior Alex Dhaenens (Howell/Howell HS) in a time of 8:17.56. Calvin’s 200 medley relay team of Kinzer, Rookus, Scott and Wesselius also claimed first place in a time of 1:53.04.
Calvin is back in action next Saturday when it hosts Kalamazoo in a dual meet at 1 p.m. at the Venema Aquatic Center.
