Two members of the Calvin women’s volleyball team have been named to the AVCA Division III Great Lakes All-Region team and are now eligible for AVCA Division III All-America consideration. Those two individuals are senior Lizzie Kamp and junior Megan Rietema. In addition, freshman Maggie Kamp has received AVCA Division III Great Lakes All-Region honorable mention recognition.
Lizzie Kamp is from Orland Park and is a graduate of Chicago Christian High School. An outside hitter, she has hit at a .319 clip this fall and is averaging 4.33 kills, 1.95 digs and 0.30 aces per set this fall. She has been a four-time MIAA Player of the Week selection this fall and was named to the Otterbein/Capital All-Tournament team earlier this fall. She is making her fourth straight appearance on the Great Lakes All-Region team.
Last week she was named the MIAA’s Most Valuable Player, becoming the second member from her family to receive the award as her older sister Rebecca was a three-time MIAA MVP. Lizzie was also named to the All-MIAA first team last weekend, receiving the honor for the third straight year.
A native of Grand Rapids and a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School, Rietema is making her third straight appearance on the Great Lakes All-Region team. A setter, Rietema was a three-time MIAA Specialty Player of the Week this fall. She was also named to the All-MIAA first team for the third straight year and landed a spot on the Wittenberg Fall Classic All-Tournament team in mid-September.
Rietema averages 10.41 assists-per-set and holds an attack percentage of .309. She also averages 2.05 digs and 1.0 blocks-per-set and has collected 24 service aces on the season.
An outside hitter, Maggie Kamp is also from Orland Park, Illinois, and a graduate of Chicago Christian High School. She is averaging 2.79 kills-per-set and holds a .259 hitting percentage.
Last weekend, Maggie Kamp was named the MIAA’s Freshman of the Year, marking the sixth time a Calvin player has been so honored.
Two other Calvin players received All-MIAA recognition as senior middle blocker Julia Hilbrands was named to the All-MIAA first team while sophomore Emily Crowe was named to the All-MIAA second team.
A native of Grand Rapids and a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School, Hilbrands now holds the distinction of being a first team All-MIAA selection in two sports as she was named to the All-MIAA first team in women’s basketball last year. Also a middle-hitter, Crowe hails from Granger, Indiana. She is a graduate of Mishawaka Penn High School.
