AVCA Division III Top 25 Poll for 11-12-13

The Calvin women’s volleyball team has regained the number-one spot in the AVCA Division III Top 25 rankings. After three weeks in the number-two spot, Calvin has leap-frogged rival Hope for the top spot.

Calvin received 47 of a possible 48 first place votes with Hope receiving the other first place tally. Hope is ranked second in this week’s poll. This past Saturday, the two rivals met for the third time this year with Calvin pulling out a come-from-behind five-set win in the MIAA Tournament finals at Calvin’s Van Noord Arena.

During the regular season, Calvin defeated Hope in Grand Rapids while Hope defeated Calvin in Holland. Calvin will host an eight-team NCAA III Regional tournament this weekend and will face Penn State-Behrend Thursday night in an 8 p.m. first round match.

Calvin will be one of four nationally-ranked teams in the regional field as 10th-ranked Mount Union, 12th-ranked Wittenberg and 20th-ranked Chicago are all part of the field.
