Calvin Swimming & Diving Teams Split Dual Meet Action at Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO Ė The Calvin menís and womenís swimming and diving teams were in dual meet action at Kalamazoo on Saturday. In the womenís competition, Calvin defeated Kalamazoo 170-130. On the menís side, Calvin was defeated 163-137. The womenís team is now 5-2 on the year in dual meet action while the Calvin menís team is 3-3.
In the womenís meet, Calvin received a win from junior Shelby Cloyd in the 1,000 freestyle (10:53.49), junior Stephanie Fox in the 200 freestyle (1:58.62), 100 freestyle (54.47) and 200 IM (2:18.96), freshman Erika Waugh in the 100 backstroke (1:03.95) and 200 backstroke (2:15.23), junior Elizabeth Counsell in the 200 breaststroke (2:30.24), freshman Kathryn Wrobel in the 500 freestyle (5:19.59) and junior Sam Klaasen on the one-meter diving board (259.45).
In the menís meet, junior Mathias Bares won the 1,000 freestyle (10:17.07), junior Stephen Kraft in the 100 backstroke (55.18), freshman Ben Keller in the 100 freestyle, senior Ross Battoclette in the 200 backstroke (1:59.99) and sophomore Andrew Kraft on the one-meter (357.90) and three-meter (352.75) boards. Calvinís 200 medley relay team of Battoclette, senior Greg Gorham, junior Mark Rushlow and sophomore Andrew Mitchell also took first place with a time of 1:38.45.
Calvin is back in action next Saturday when both teams host Albion at 1 p.m.
