Calvin Sending Four To NCAA III Indoor Track & Field Championships

The Calvin men’s and women’s track and field teams will be sending a combined four individuals to the NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships this Friday and Saturday. The national meet will be hosted by Capital University in Columbus, Ohio.
Representing the Calvin women’s team will be seniors Rachel Boerner and Sarah Reasoner. Representing the Calvin men’s team will be junior Nick Kramer and sophomore Greg Whittle.
Boerner (Bergenfield, NJ/Hillcrest Lutheran Academy) will be making her third appearance at the NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships. She will compete in the 400 meters where she is seeded second with a time of 56.38. She is the defending indoor national champion. A year ago, she captured the indoor national title in the 400 meters with a time of 55.95. As a sophomore, she was a member of Calvin’s 4x400 meter relay team that placed third at the 2009 NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Reasoner (Cambridge, MN/Cambridge-Isanti HS) will be making her second appearance at the NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships. A year ago, she finished second in the shot put at the indoor national meet with a throw of 46-4. Reasoner is seeded fourth (46-1 1/2) in the shot put for this weekend.
Kramer and Whittle will be making their first appearances at the NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships. Kramer (Dyer, IN/Illiana Christian HS) will compete in the 5,000 meters where he is seeded fourth (14:31.30). Whittle (Galesburg, IL/Galesburg HS) will compete in the mile run where he is seeded eighth (4:11.96).
This is the third year that Calvin is sending individuals to the NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships. In 2009, the Calvin women finished 10th and in 2010 finished 11th. The Calvin men finished 32nd in 2009 but did not place in 2010.
