ROYAL OAK, Mich. – Defending champion Adrian has been picked as the preseason favorite to win the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women’s lacrosse championship while Calvin has been picked to finish fifth.

A year ago, Calvin finished in a three-way tie for fourth place in the league standings at 2-4 in conference play but missed the four-team MIAA Tournament by virtue of a tiebreaker rule. Calvin finished 4-12 overall.

Alma, which received the other two first-place votes, is picked to finish second.
A year ago, the MIAA featured a seven-team race but will now a full compliment of nine varsity teams competing this spring as Kalamazoo and Saint Mary’s will be competing as varsity teams for the first time.
