Calvin Men’s Cross Country Team And Runners Receive USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

The United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association has named its 2011 All-Academic recipients in men’s cross country and four members of the Calvin men’s cross country team have been so honored. In order to receive USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, individuals must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or greater through the most-recent semester and placed in the top 35 at the NCAA Regional Championships
. In addition, the Calvin men’s team has also received USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors with a 3.45 grade point average.

Individuals from Calvin that received the honor include senior Dan Kerr and juniors Matt VanderRoest, David VandeBunte and Job Christiansen.

At the Great Lakes Regional meet this past November, Christiansen (New Ipswich, NH/New Ipswich HS) finished 24th, Kerr (Petoskey, MI/Petoskey HS) was 3rd,  VanderRoest (Ann Arbor, MI/Ann Arbor Huron HS) fifth, VandeBunte 10th and Christiansen(New Ipswich, NH/Mascenic Regional HS) 33rd. In finishing in the top 35, all four individuals earned spots on the Great Lakes All-Region team.
At the Great Lakes Regional meet, Calvin took first place with a team score of 38 points. At the NCAA III Championships the following week, Calvin took 11th place with a team score of 352 points.

The Knights were led by head coach Brian Diemer.
