Calvin/Hope Men’s Basketball Rivalry Set For Wednesday Night With Live Video Stream
Tuesday, January 05, 2010
The 174th meeting between Calvin and Hope in men’s basketball will take place on Wednesday, January 6, when the two rivals face each other inside Calvin’s Van Noord Arena at 7:30 p.m.
Hope currently holds a slim 88-85 series lead in a series that began during the 1920-21 season. Just 101 points separate the teams over 173 games, a difference of only 0.583 points per game!
This will also feature the second meeting of the year between the two teams as Hope edged Calvin 79-76 in the consolation game of the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame Tournament Thanksgiving weekend.
Wednesday’s game will also feature the MIAA openers for both teams, marking the first time since 1988 that both teams have opened their league schedules against each other.
Wednesday’s contest will be the first of two MIAA regular season games between the two teams with Hope hosting Calvin at the DeVos Fieldhouse on January 30.
Hope will enter Wednesday’s game with an overall record of 7-4 while Calvin is 5-6.
Wednesday’s game will also be televised live to a regional West Michigan audience via West Michigan PBs affiliate WGVU-TV. For the first time, the WGVU broadcast will be video streamed through the Calvin Web site at: Calvin/Hope Video Stream
