Calvin Holds MIAA Commissioner’s Cup Standings Lead Through Winter Sports Season

With the MIAA winter sports season recently completed, the MIAA Commissioner’s Cup standings have been tabulated and Calvin holds an eight-point (137-129) lead over Hope. In the women’s all-sports standings, Calvin holds a six-point (76-70) lead over Hope while Calvin holds a two-point (61-59) lead in the men’s all-sports standings over Hope.
With one-third of the 2010-11 MIAA sports season left to be completed, Calvin has captured seven of the 12 MIAA titles that have been decided thus far. Calvin has captured MIAA titles this year in men’s soccer, women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s golf, women’s swimming and diving and women’s basketball.
· The MIAA Commissioner’s Cup award is based on the cumulative performance of each member school in the league’s 18 sports for men and women.
· The final Commissioner’s Cup standings are determined on the basis of each college’s standings in eight of nine sports for men and eight of nine sports for women. For this tabulation (thru the winter season) the standings are based on five-of-six sports for men and five-of-six sports for women.
· Hope won the 2009-10 Commissioner’s Cup.
· The Commissioner’s Cup (All-Sports Award) has been presented since 1934-35. Hope has won the award 32 times, followed by Albion 14, Kalamazoo 13, Calvin 9 & Alma 5.
