Calvin College head cross country coach Brian Diemer has been named the Great Lakes Regional Coach of the Year by the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association. Diemer, in his 27th season, led the Knights to their 26th-consecutive Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association title this fall. The third-ranked Calvin men also captured their 17th straight regional crown last Saturday. Calvin will compete at the NCAA III Championships this Saturday in Terre Haute, Indiana. The races will begin at 11 a.m. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will serve as the host institution.
Combined, Diemer has now led the Calvin men’s and women’s cross country teams to 32 MIAA titles which ranks second on the all-time MIAA list for championships, trailing only the 35 won by George Acker of Kalamazoo College in men’s tennis.
Diemer will be leading both the Calvin men’s and women’s cross country teams at the national meet on Saturday.
Saturday’s races will feature a live video webcast. The video streams will be available on Saturday morning on the NCAA website at: NCAA.com
