Baseball Team Drops 10-0 Decision at Division I Central Michigan University

MOUNT PLEASANT - Calvin dropped a 10-0 decision at Division I Central Michigan University Tuesday afternoon. The Knights are now 10-16 on the year.
The host Chippewas exploded for nine runs in the third inning to put the game away early.
Calvin had five hits in defeat. Freshman Jordan VanderWall (Wyoming/South Christian HS) to raise his season batting average to .352. Freshmen Jalen Bouma (Ann Arbor/Ann Arbor Huron HS) and Michael Kamp (Homer Glen, IL/Chicago Christian HS) and junior Kyle Spoelma (Kentwood/South Christian HS) all had single hits as well.
Freshman Travis Kraai (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) took the loss for Calvin to fall to 0-1 on the year. Sophomore Jeremy Kamp (Homer Glen, IL/Chicago Christian HS), freshman Kyle Wasserberger (Spring Lake/Spring Lake HS), sophomore Ben Guilfoyle (Romeoville, IL/Plainfield East HS) and junior Jack Jorgenson (Milwaukee, WI/Milwaukee Lutheran HS) all saw time in relief. Jorgenson pitched a scoreless eighth, striking out two batters. It marked his first appearance for Calvin in a month after suffering an injury in March.
Calvin is back in action on Friday, traveling to Alma for a conference doubleheader at 2 p.m.
