Calvin College head volleyball coach Amber Warners will be honored in the Faces in the Crowd section of the upcoming edition of Sports Illustrated. The Faces in the Crowd section for the December 27 issue can be found online at: Sports Illustrated Faces in the Crowd - 12/27/10

Warners is one of six coaches that are honored in the latest Faces in the Crowd list. She is believed to be the first coach in Calvin College athletics history to receive the national honor.

Her bio in the Faces in the Crowd section reads: “Warners, a 1990 graduate of Calvin College, was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association D-III coach of the year after leading her alma mater team to its first national title, over top-ranked Emory. The Knights won 24 years to the day after they lost in the finals when Warners was a starting freshman setter.”

Other individuals from Calvin that have received the honor from Sports Illustrated include former student-athletes Todd Hennink (men’s basketball), Lisa Winkle (women’s basketball) and Becky Weima (women’s swimming).
