Calvin Hockey Team Defeats Dordt 5-2 At Clash In the Corn Opener

SIOUX CENTER, IA—In a meeting of regionally-ranked teams, the visiting Knights of Calvin defeated the Dordt College Blades 5-2 in front of nearly 900 fans at the Vernon Arena. Ranked third in the ACHA Division III North Region, Calvin (8-4-1) used a come-from-behind effort to defeat Dordt, ranked second in the ACHA Division III Pacific Division.

Regional Honors for Brian Diemer and Jed Christiansen Announced by USTCCCA

In addition, Calvin senior Jed Christiansen has been named Great Lakes Regional Men’s Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season. Christiansen (Greenville, PA/Greenville HS) won his second straight Great Lakes title, clocking 24:44. Two weeks earlier, Christiansen won individual honors in leading Calvin to its 22nd consecutive Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association team title.
Kamp Named AVCA DIII Freshman of Year & AVCA DIII First Team All-American

Calvin College freshman Rebecca Kamp has received two of the highest honors awarded by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. A native of Orland Park, Illinois, Kamp has been named the AVCA Division III National Freshman of the Year and also an AVCA First Team Division III All-American.

Brook Van Eck Named MIAA Player of the Week in Women’s Basketball

ROYAL OAK – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Calvin College forward Brook Van Eck its first recipient of the league’s Player of the Week award in women’s basketball for the new season.
Van Eck, a junior from Lowell (Lowell HS), didn’t miss a shot in the Knights’ 64-49 season-opening win over Madonna. Van Eck connected on all eight of her shots from the field and was 3-of-3 from the foul line in scoring a career-high 20 points, while playing just 23 minutes. She also grabbed four rebounds and added four steals.
Calvin Swimming and Diving Teams Compete at Wayne State Triangular

DETROIT—The Calvin men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams dropped dual meets in a triangular hosted by Wayne State on Saturday. In the men’s competition, Calvin was defeated by Wayne State 173-58 and by Denison 203-35. In the women’s competition, Calvin was defeated by Wayne State 170-71 and by Denison 164-79.

WESTERVILLE, OHIO- Cold and wet conditions couldn’t slow down Calvin’s nationally ranked cross country teams Saturday at Otterbein College. The women’s team, ranked first nationally, won its second straight regional title and the men’s team, ranked fourth nationally, won its 13th consecutive regional title.
