Men’s Tennis Picks Up Win at Earlham College

RICHMOND, IN—The Calvin men’s tennis team improved to 8-2 overall with a 9-0 win over Earlham College Friday afternoon. The match marked the return of Calvin men’s tennis coach John Ross who previously served as the men’s tennis coach at Earlham from 2000-to-2003.
Calvin is back in action tomorrow for a pair of non-conference matches at Wabash, facing Wabash at 9:00 a.m. and Wittenberg at 1:00 p.m.

GRAND RAPIDS – Calvin wasted no time in extending its win streak over Hope.
Kyle Cousins (Holland/Holland Christian) blasted his first collegiate homerun in the first inning of Game One, and Peter Steiner (Chicago, Ill./Glenbrook South) preserved his unblemished career record on the mound in Game Two as the Knights notched 6-3 and 3-2 wins over the Dutch on Thursday.

Ben Sietsema Named MIAA Pitcher of the Week

For the first time in his collegiate career, Calvin College junior Ben Sietsema has been named MIAA Pitcher of the Week. A graduate of nearby Northpointe Christian High School, Sietsema tossed a two-hit shutout in a 6-0 win over Kalamazoo this past Saturday in Calvin’s MIAA opener. In his seven innings of work, Sietsema struck out four and walked one as he faced only 22 batters, one over the minimum.

The Calvin men’s tennis team improved to 7-2 overall and to 1-0 in the MIAA with a 9-0 win over Alma Tuesday afternoon inside the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center. The Knights are now 3-0 in matches played inside the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center.

GRAND RAPIDS – The Knights routed Kalamazoo 13-1 in Monday’s opening game, but the Hornets foiled Calvin’s final-inning comeback in Game Two as Jake Hansen, a pinch hitter, had a walk-off single to give Kalamazoo a 10-9 win.

KENTWOOD, MI—Visiting Saint Mary’s swept a doubleheader from Calvin on Monday afternoon at Gainey Field, defeating the Knights 8-0 and 3-2. Monday’s twinbill served as the conference openers for both Calvin and Saint Mary’s.
Monday Baseball Doubleheader With Kalamazoo Moved to Calvin Field

The Monday Calvin-Kalamazoo baseball doubleheader has been moved to Calvin with a start time of 2:00 p.m. The doubleheader was originally scheduled to be played in Kalamazoo but due to wet grounds in Kalamazoo, the twinbill has been moved back to Calvin. The doubleheader will complete a four-game series between the two teams which began this past Saturday.
Men’s Golf Finishes Seventh at Muskingum Invitational

NEW CONCORD, OH—The Calvin men’s golf team placed seventh at the two-day Muskingum College Invitational this past weekend, recording a 36-hole team score of 616 strokes.
Mount Union won the invitational with 570 strokes while host Muskingum was second (597).
