The Calvin women’s tennis team hit the double-digit mark for victories with an 8-1 win over visiting Alma Tuesday afternoon inside the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center. The match marked Calvin’s final home contest of the year. The Knights finished the year 5-1 at home including 3-0 inside the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center.

KENTWOOD—The Calvin men’s tennis team picked up an 8-1 victory over visiting Trine University Tuesday afternoon at the MVP Sportsplex. The Knights are now 13-5 overall and 3-1 in MIAA competition.
Ben Sietsema Named MIAA Pitcher of the Week

For the second time this spring, Calvin College junior Ben Sietsema has been named the MIAA’s Pitcher of the Week. Sietsema, a junior from Ada (NorthPointe Christian HS), fired a five-hit shutout in leading the Knights to a 1-0 victory over Trine last Thursday.

Calvin dropped a pair of matches to regionally-ranked opponents over the weekend, falling 5-4 to Coe College (IA) Friday afternoon in a match played in Kalamazoo and then dropped a 6-3 decision at rival Hope Saturday afternoon in Holland.
Records Fall For Calvin Track & Field Teams At Wheaton Twilight Invitational

WHEATON, IL—The Calvin men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the Wheaton College Twilight Invitational on Saturday and the men’s team placed fourth in a field of seven teams with 96.5 points while the Calvin women’s team placed third in a seven team field with 134 points. Perennial powers Wisconsin-Oshkosh won both team competitions with the Oshkosh men posting a team score of 243 points while the Oshkosh women tallied a total of 155 points, two points ahead of defending national champion Illinois Wesleyan.<
Softball Takes Two at Illinois Wesleyan Tournament

BLOOMINGTON, IL—The Calvin softball team completed the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament on a winning note Saturday, defeating Fontbonne 6-2 and Anderson 3-0. The Knights completed the tournament with a 2-2 record after falling to Blackburn 4-2 and to host Illinois Wesleyan 6-1 on Friday.
Baseball Splits With Trine on Saturday

Calvin baseball’s bid for its first conference sweep came up short Saturday afternoon at Calvin Field as the Knights (14-12, 11-5 MIAA) split with Trine (7-20, 3-13 MIAA).
Calvin’s sixth inning rally gave the Knights an 8-6 come-from-behind win in game one. But the Knights only managed three hits off of Trine starting pitcher Cameron Heckley in the second game and fell 5-1.
Women’s Tennis Defeated by Nationally-Ranked Grand Valley

KENTWOOD—The Calvin women’s tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Grand Valley State University Thursday afternoon at the Gainey Courts. The Knights are now 9-6 overall. Grand Valley came into the match ranked 27th nationally in the most recent Division II ITA Top-25 rankings.

ANGOLA, IN—The Calvin baseball team took both ends of a doubleheader at Trine University Thursday afternoon, winning by scores of 1-0 and 7-2. The Knights are now 13-11 overall and 10-4 in the MIAA standings.

KENTWOOD—The Calvin softball team dropped a pair of games to visiting Adrian Wednesday afternoon at Gainey Field, falling by scores of 3-2 and 11-3. Wednesday’s doubleheader was originally scheduled for April 7 but was rescheduled twice because of weather conditions.
