Calvin Swimming and Diving Teams Split Dual Meets at Albion

ALBION - Traveling to Albion to take on the Britons, the men’s and women’s swim and dive teams split the meet as the women took home a victory, 166-133, and the men took a narrow defeat, 141-134. The Calvin women complete their dual meet season with an overall record of 6-3 including a record of 6-0 against league foes. The Calvin men finish 4-4 overall in dual meet action and 3-2 against league opponents. Up next for both teams is the MIAA Championships which will be held at Jenison High School 13-16.
Men’s basketball rolls to 92-50 win versus Kalamazoo

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The Calvin College men’s basketball team continued to roll Saturday afternoon defeated the Kalamazoo College Hornets 92-50 at the Van Noord Arena. The Knights, who were ranked 17th in the most recent d3hoops.com men’s basketball poll, improve to 19-2, 10-0 MIAA on the season. Kruis finished with 27 points and 12 rebounds, two points away from tying his career high. Powell finished with 17 points and five assists. Senior Tom Snikkers (Hudsonville/Unity Christian) finished with 16 points and seven rebounds. Snikkers moves into 11th place on Calvin’s all-time scoring list with 1,341 points. Calvin outrebounded Kalamazoo 67-28, and held the Hornets to just 23.9 percent shooting from the field. Calvin returns to action Wed., Jan. 6, when it travels to Alma for a 7:00 p.m. contest against the Scots.
Calvin/Trine Women’s Basketball Game Postponed on Saturday Because of Weather

The Calvin/Trine women’s basketball game scheduled to be played on Saturday at Van Noord Arena has been postponed because of weather conditions that prevented Trine from making the trip up from Indiana. The makeup date for the game will be Monday, February 4, at 7:30 p.m. at Calvin.
Calvin Women’s Lacrosse Picked to Finish Third in MIAA Preseason Coaches’ Poll

The first-ever MIAA preseason coaches’ poll for women’s lacrosse has been announced and Calvin has been picked to finish third in the seven-team league. Adrian is the preseason favorite, receiving six first place votes while Hope received one first place vote and was picked to finish second. Coaches could not vote for their own teams. Alma was picked to finish fourth behind Calvin with Olivet fifth, Trine sixth and Albion seventh. Calvin will be embarking on its first season of varsity competition this spring. The top four teams in the final MIAA regular season standings will qualify for the four-team MIAA Tournament. The winner of the MIAA Tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA III Tournament.
