GRAND RAPIDS—Marcus Zeilstra and Steve DeMaagd recorded a come-from-behind win in No. 1 doubles action, but each fell in singles play as Kalamazoo defeated the Knights 6-3 at the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center on Saturday.

Calvin’s season-ending doubleheader with Olivet was suspended in the bottom of the fourth inning of game one Saturday with the visiting Comets leading 3-0. The doubleheader is scheduled to resume on Monday, April 27. The start time for Monday’s resumed twinbill is 3:30 p.m.

HILLSDALE—Calvin senior Lauren Bergstrom (Rochester, MN) came up with a record-breaking performance in the 1500 meters and junior Elizabeth Smith (Kirkland, WA) did the same in the women’s 3,000 meter steeplechase to lead a list of NCAA III automatic and provisional qualifying performances for the Calvin men’s and women’s track and field teams Friday night at the Hillsdale Gina Relays.

ADRIAN – In the opening day of a four-game series with nationally-ranked Adrian, Calvin gained a doubleheader split, defeating the 21st-ranked Bulldogs 8-2 in game one before falling 11-8 in game two.

GRAND RAPIDS—Coach Emily Bustrum hoped that two non-conference wins last Saturday would jumpstart the Knights during their last week of league action.
The Knights frittered away an early 2-0 advantage in Game Two against Alma—their only lead of the day—and the third-place Scots swept Calvin 4-0 and 10-2 at Gainey Field on Friday afternoon.

The Calvin women’s tennis team hit the double-digit mark for victories with an 8-1 win over visiting Alma Tuesday afternoon inside the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center. The match marked Calvin’s final home contest of the year. The Knights finished the year 5-1 at home including 3-0 inside the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center.
