TERRE HAUTE, IN—The Calvin women’s track and field team made history on Friday afternoon as its distance medley relay team became the first-ever Calvin squad to earn All-America honors in indoor track and field.

Calvin College senior Lauren Bergstrom has been named the Division III Women’s Great Lakes Regional Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year by the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association.
The USTFCCCA selects the top track athlete, field athlete, and coach for the eight regions in Division III track and field.
Men’s Tennis Upsets Grand Valley Inside Huizenga Tennis & Track Center

The Calvin men’s tennis team remains undefeated inside the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center. On Wednesday, Calvin upset Division II Grand Valley State 6-3 to improve to 3-0 inside the facility including 2-0 against four-year institutions.
Calvin Sending Nine To NCAA III Indoor Track & Field Championships

The Calvin men’s and women’s track and field teams will be sending nine individuals - one from the men’s team and eight from the women’s team - the NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships this Friday and Saturday at Rose-Hulman Institue in Terre Haute, IN.

With their league-best pitching staff completely intact after a championship season in 2008, the Knights will aim to capture their second straight MIAA title this spring behind the arms of seniors Nate Pocock (Wayland, Mass.) and Kyle Cousins (Holland).
And with a proven supporting cast on the mound, along with the return of junior Matt Schepel (Grand Rapids), the MIAA’s reigning home run champion, Calvin has positioned itself to do just that.

The Calvin women’s swimming and diving team will be sending 11 athletes to the upcoming NCAA III Championships scheduled to be held at the University of Minnesota March 18-21. Competing for Calvin in swimming events will be seniors Cara Van Woerkom and Julie Wolfe, juniors Maggie Vail, Emily Roberts, Laura Price and Libby Veldkamp and sophomores Kendra Kinzer and Monica Bressler. Competing for Calvin in the diving competition will be seniors Erica Deur and Jeena Velzen and junior Casey Herman.
Women’s Tennis Falls at Ferris State

BIG RAPIDS—Calvin dipped to 1-3 on the year, falling to regionally-ranked Ferris State University 6-3 Thursday afternoon. Since opening the year with an 8-1 win over regionally-ranked Carthage, Calvin has dropped three consecutive matches with all three losses coming against ranked opponents.

For the second consecutive year the Calvin women’s swimming and diving team have landed seven individuals on the All-MIAA women’s swimming and diving team. The total matches the highest number of All-MIAA selections in Calvin women’s swimming and diving history with the Knights also accomplishing the feat in 2001.
Named to the All-MIAA team from Calvin are seniors Erica Deur, Cara Van Woerkom and Julie Wolfe, juniors Emily Roberts, Maggie Vail and Laura Price and sophomore Monica Bressler.
