ORLANDO, FL—The Calvin men’s tennis team improved to 5-1 with a 9-0 victory over Hamline (MN) University Wednesday afternoon. Calvin returns to action Thursday morning when it faces regionally-ranked Luther College at 10:30 a.m.

TUCSON, AZ—Calvin picked up its first victory of the year on Wednesday, defeating St. Catherine (MN) 7-4. The Knights were then defeated by Buena Vista College 7-6. In the win over St. Catherine, senior Kristin Folkerts (Grand Rapids Christian HS) picked up the pitching victory.
Baseball Falls To 10th-Ranked Southern Maine

PHOENIX, AZ – A weary Calvin pitching staff was no match for 10th-ranked Southern Maine as the Knights suffered a 21-5 defeat to dip to 3-6 on the year and to 3-4 on its spring trip.
Southern Maine rapped out 13 hits in the win while Calvin had nine. Southern Maine snapped a 4-4 tie with eight runs in the bottom of the fourth and tacked on nine runs in the bottom of the sixth to break the game open.

ORLANDO, FL—Calvin slipped to 4-4 with a 6-3 loss to Wisconsin-Whitewater Tuesday afternoon. Whitewater came in ranked seventh in the ITA Division III Central Region rankings while Calvin was ranked 15th in the region.

Caleb Veldhouse Receives NABC All-District Honors in Men’s Basketball

For the second time in his career, Calvin senior Caleb Veldhouse has received Division III Great Lakes All-District Honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). A native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Veldhouse has been named to the NABC All-District second team.
Calvin Baseball Team Currently 2-2 in Arizona

PHOENIX, AZ - The Calvin baseball team is currently 2-2 on its spring trip in Arizona and 2-4 overall on the season. On Friday, Calvin suffered a 13-4 defeat to Hamline University but came back to sweep a doubleheader from Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday by scores of 11-10 and 10-7. Sophomores Peter Steiner and Keith Spoelstra picked up the victories in the doubleheader sweep.
On Monday, Calvin suffered a 17-15 defeat to Eastern Connecticut State, ranked fifth in the most recent Division III Top 25 poll of the year.

Deur Named National Diver of the Year - Paskvan Named Women’s Diving Coach of the Year

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – For the second time in three years, Calvin College senior Erica Deur has been named the Division III Women’s Diver of the Year by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.
The award was announced late Saturday night at the conclusion of the NCAA III Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota. In addition, Calvin diving coach Aaron Paskvan has been named Division III Women’s Diving Coach of the Year. It also marks the second time in three years that he has received the honor.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN—The Calvin women’s swimming and diving team closed out its fifth consecutive top-10 national finish on Saturday at the NCAA III Championships, finishing seventh with a final team score of 171 points.
