Women’s Golf Competes at Siena Heights Invitational

ADRIAN - The Calvin women’s golf team competed at the Siena Heights Invitational at the Tecumseh Country Club on Saturday and posted a team score of 422 strokes. Calvin was led by junior Emily Tuuk (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) with a round of 93. Freshman Kelsey Kolk (Jenison/Unity Christian HS) was next with a 106 while freshman Katy Berghuis (Wyoming/Calvin Christian HS) had a 129.
Calvin was scheduled to return to action on Monday with an invitational against Aquinas but that competition has now been canceled. Calvin will return to action next Friday and Saturday when it competes at the MIAA Tournament at the Bedford Valley Country club.

GAMBIER, OH—For the third straight meeting, a Calvin-Kenyon matchup was decided by one goal. On Saturday, ninth-ranked Calvin nipped Kenyon 1-0 on a penalty kick by junior Emily Ottenhoff (Palos Heights, IL/Chicago Christian HS) with just 3:46 left in regulation.
Men’s Soccer Stretches Win Streak to Five With 2-1 Win at Olivet

OLIVET—Calvin stretched its win streak to five games and improved to 4-0 in MIAA play with a 2-1 victory at Olivet Saturday afternoon. Calvin scored a goal in each half and then held off a late Comet comeback attempt to gain the win.
Men’s Cross Country Fourth at Notre Dame - First at Adrian

NOTRE DAME, IN—The second-ranked Calvin men’s cross country team ran into a pair of old adversaries on Friday in the Gold Division of the Notre Dame Invitational and finished behind both.
Calvin took fourth with 149 points but finished behind seventh-ranked North Central and fourth-ranked Wisconsin-Stevens Point. North Central took the competition with 93 points while Stevens Points was third with 125 points. Ranked second in the latest Division II nationa poll, Grand Valley State took second with 104 points.

NOTRE DAME, IN—The top-ranked Calvin women’s cross country team came up with a strong performance in the Gold Division of the Notre Dame Invitational Friday afternoon, posting a fourth place score of 155 points. Ranked eighth in the latest Division I rankings, Michigan State took first place with 76 points with Grand Valley - ranked second in the most recent Division II national poll - placing second (93 points). Division I Northwestern was third (136).

For the second straight week, the Calvin women’s cross country team is the number-one ranked team in Division III women’s cross country. The Knights are the top-ranked team in this week’s poll released earlier this afternoon. Calvin received all eight first place votes in this week’s poll. Calvin took first place at the MIAA jamboree this past Friday with a team score of 20 points.
Wisconsin-Eau Claire is the number-two ranked women’s team in the latest poll.
On the men’s side, Calvin is again ranked number-two but the Knights did pick up one first place vote in this week’s poll.

ALBION—Calvin got back on the winning track and snapped a four-match winning streak by a determined Albion squad Wednesday night at Albion’s Kresge Gymnasium, winning by scores of 26-24, 25-19, 23-25, 25-22. Ranked 17th in the latest AVCA Division III Top 25 poll, Calvin is now 12-4 overall and 6-2 in the MIAA.

ADRIAN—The ninth-ranked Calvin women’s soccer team improved to 6-2-1 overall and to 2-0-0 in MIAA play with a 2-0 victory at Adrian Wednesday afternoon. Calvin has now 21 consecutive MIAA regular season games dating back to the 2005 season.
