Calvin College seniors Caleb Veldhouse and Marcia Harris have been named pre-season All-Americans in men’s and women’s basketball respectively. Veldhouse has been named a pre-season All-American by Division III News while Harris has been so honored by sister publication Women’s Division III News.
Women’s Cross Country Team Number-One/Men Ranked Fifth

For the fourth consecutive week, the Calvin women’s cross country team is the number-one ranked team in Division III. The Knights again received all eight first place votes in this week’s poll with Wisconsin-Eau Claire ranked second. On the men’s side, Calvin remains ranked fifth with Cortland State of New York the top –ranked team with eight first place votes while North Central is ranked second, Wisconsin-LaCrosse ranked third and Wisconsin-Stevens Point ranked fourth.
Women’s Soccer Blanks Olivet 3-0

OLIVET—The nationally-ranked Calvin women’s soccer team stretched its MIAA unbeaten streak to 30 games with a 3-0 win at Olivet Wednesday afternoon. The Knights are now 29-0-1 against MIAA competition dating back to the 2005 season.
Cline Stops Trine In Just the Nick of Time

ANGOLA, IN – A save by Calvin College senior Darrin Cline helped the Knights stop Trine – all coming in just the nick of time.
Cline’s stop of a Trine penalty kick with 3:26 left in regulation enabled Calvin to hold on to a 1-0 lead and moments later the win.
Volleyball Stops Saint Mary’s In Three

NOTRE DAME, IN – Calvin back into second place in the MIAA standings with a 25-19, 25-22, 25-21 conference victory at Saint Mary’s (14-8 overall, 7-6 MIAA) Tuesday night. Ranked 17th in the latest Division III Top 25 rankings, Calvin is now 15-4 overall and 9-2 in the MIAA. Alma is currently 9-3 in the league standings.

BATTLE CREEK—The Calvin women’s golf team finished eighth at the 36-hole MIAA Tournament, firing a team score of 412 strokes on day two of the tournament - finishing with a final tournament score of 832 strokes. The MIAA Tournament was held at the Bedford Valley Country Club.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Knights’ unblemished conference record was jeopardized for merely 19 seconds on Saturday afternoon.
In what turned out to be a pivotal 21st minute, Calvin sophomore Scott Hooker (Hudsonville/Unity Christian HS) responded moments later to an Adrian goal – compliments of Eric Drake – that initially stunned the first-place Knights.
Hooker’s strike put Calvin back on track, as coach Chris Hughes’ squad controlled momentum and used a second-half goal from senior Michael Holwerda (Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids Christian HS) to overcome the cellar-dwelling Bulldogs, 2-1.

NOTRE DAME, IN—The nationally-ranked Calvin women’s soccer team remained unbeaten in MIAA play and posted its fifth consecutive shutout in the process, defeating host Saint Mary’s 4-0 Saturday afternoon.

ADRIAN—Nearly two weeks after dropping a five-set match to Adrian at home, Calvin returned the favor, defeating the host Bulldogs 25-19, 25-16, 25-16 in front of an Adrian homecoming crowd Friday night at the Merillat Center.
Ranked 17th in the most recent AVCA Division III Top 25 poll, Calvin (14-4 overall, 8-2 MIAA) moves back into a tie for second place in the MIAA standings with Alma with Friday’s win.
