Women’s Soccer Tops Trine 8-0 - Will Host Saint Mary’s in First Round of MIAA Tournament

ANGOLA, IN—The nationally-ranked Calvin women’s soccer team closed out the round robin portion of its conference schedule on Saturday with a 8-0 win at Trine University. Ranked fourth nationally, the Knights have gained the top seed for the upcoming MIAA Tournament and will host Saint Mary’s in a first round game next Saturday at noon. While Calvin has already completed its round robin schedule, six other MIAA schools will complete their round robin schedules on Wednesday next week.

She earned the honor after leading the Knights to two wins last week, including an upset of then-No. 12 Hope College.

GRAND RAPIDS— Carrying momentum from Friday’s upset win at Hope, Calvin rolled against Olivet in three games Tuesday night 25-13, 25-7 and 26-24. Calvin remains in second place in the MIAA standings with an 11-2 record and improves to 17-4 overall.

OSHKOSH, WI—The top-ranked Calvin women’s cross country team lived up to its billing with a first place finish at the rugged Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational on Saturday with a team score of 59 points. Meawhile, the fifth-ranked Calvin men’s team took third with a score of 104 points, finishing behind second-ranked North Central which won with 68 points and fourth-ranked Wisconsin-Stevens Point which placed second with 73 points.

ALBION—The Calvin men’s soccer team stretched its win streak to nine games and remained on top of the MIAA standings with a 2-0 victory at Albion Saturday afternoon. The Knights are now 11-3-0 overall and 8-0 in the MIAA, three points ahead of second place Hope (7-1-0 MIAA).

Volleyball Defeats Hope In Five-Set Thriller In Holland

HOLLAND—The Calvin women’s volleyball team has been a different team on the road this year. In home matches at the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center this fall, the Knights are just 2-2 but in matches on the road, Calvin is 13-2 including 5-0 in league play.
Calvin picked up its fifth MIAA road win of the season in scintillating fashion Friday night, defeating rival Hope in five sets by scores of 25-20, 23-25, 13-25, 25-13, 15-13. The match was played in front of an NCAA Division III regular season record crowd of 2,307 fans inside Hope’s DeVos Fieldhouse and matched a pair of nationally-ranked teams as Hope came in ranked 12th and Calvin 17th.
