Calvin Women’s Soccer Team Ranked 19th In NSCAA Top 25 poll

The Calvin women’s soccer team is ranked 19th in the pre-season Division III Top-25 poll released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.  A year ago, Calvin finished with an overall record of 15-3-4, capturing its third straight MIAA title. The Knights also advanced to the NCAA III Tournament for the third straight year, bowing out in the second round in a penalty kick shootout to Wittenberg University.

Calvin Volleyball Team Ranked 21st in AVCA Top 25 poll

The Calvin women’s volleyball team is ranked 21st in the pre-season Division III Top-25 poll released by the American Volleyball Coaches Association earlier this week. Rival Hope College is ranked 23rd.

2008 Calvin Men’s Golf Preview

Consistency and improvement will be goals of the Calvin men’s golf team this fall. A year ago, the Knights slipped to sixth place in the MIAA standings after finishing fifth in 2006, 2005 and 2004. Finding a consistent lineup was the biggest challenge for head coach Brian Bolt as the Knights fielded seven different lineups during the 2007 MIAA season.

2008 Calvin Men’s Cross Country Preview

The Calvin men’s cross country team will seek to keep a pair of notable streaks alive. Heading into the 2008 campaign, the Knights have captured 21 consecutive MIAA titles. The streak is the second longest active championship streak in MIAA history. The Knights have also garnered 10 consecutive top four national finishes beginning with a national runner-up berth in 1998 and later including national titles in 2000, 2003, 2004 & 2006. Last year, Calvin entered the NCAA III Cross Country Championships ranked number-one but finished fourth at the national meet.

Calvin will enter the 2008 season as defending MIAA champions. With nine returning starters including six that earned either All-MIAA first or second team honors, the Knights will look to contend once again for the conference crown.

2008 Calvin Women’s Cross Country Preview

The Calvin women’s cross country team will head into the upcoming 2008 campaign with optimism. The Knights return an abundance of letterwinners including five of their top seven runners from a 2007 team that finished fourth nationally, captured a Great Lakes Regional title and claimed its third consecutive MIAA title including its 19th overall.
