2012 Calvin Men's Soccer Schedule

By Mitch Blankespoor

The Calvin College men’s soccer team looks to start a new season with new leadership.  A year ago, the Knights were champions of the MIAA for a record fifth year in a row, and advanced all the way to the national finals.  Calvin finished with a record of 19-6-2. The upcoming season, however, is not the only new thing upon the Calvin’s men’s soccer program.  Ryan Souders will take the reins for his first year as the Knights’ head coach. The team Souders takes over has one thing: experience in big games.  The senior class is one of the most successful in school history, having been to two national championship games and an NCAA III Elite Eight appearance.

2011 Calvin Cross Country Schedule

With a powerful one-two punch up front, a solid nucleus of returning veterans and a strong incoming freshmen class, the Calvin women’s cross country team will look to improve upon a 2010 season that included MIAA and Great Lakes Regional crowns as well as a ninth place finish at the NCAA III Championships.
Calvin returns 17 letterwinners from last year’s team including five that received either first or second team All-MIAA recognition. Senior Jodi Hoekstra (Homer Glen, IL/Chicago Christian HS) and junior Alyssa Penning (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) were both named to the All-MIAA first team last year. 2011 Calvin Women's Soccer Schedule

By Sports Information Student Assistant Derek Neice

Coming off a stellar season that included an MIAA tournament title and an undefeated home record, the 2011 Calvin Women’s soccer program looks again to get back on the pitch and replicate its success this upcoming fall.  Despite losing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last November, the Knights still boasted a 15-3-2 record and certainly will look to maintain the confidence with which they finished the 2010 season. With the tradition that Calvin soccer offers, there are always talented freshmen looking to make their mark on the team, and having lost the past senior class of six players to graduation, this year should provide plenty of opportunities for playing time among what is ultimately a very young lineup.
