The keys to the Spoelhof Fieldhouse Complex were given to Calvin College Friday afternoon. Calvin president Dr. Gaylen Byker was there to accept the keys from Christman Construction Company Senior Vice President Jim Cash. Members of the media and groups of individuals from the Calvin community were in attendance for the event. In addition, the men’s and women’s basketball teams had their first practices inside the VanNoord Arena on Friday.

The first set of Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup fall sports standings have been released and Calvin sits in third place place with 190 points.
Williams (Mass.) is the leader with 243 points, holding a 10-point lead over Cortland State (N.Y.). The first set of standings includes the sports of men’s and women’s cross country, women’s field hockey and women’s volleyball.

SIOUX CENTER, IA – Calvin captured the Cob Cup at the Dordt College Clash in the Corn Tournament. The Knights closed out the tournament with a 3-0 record, defeating the University of Wyoming on Saturday afternoon 6-3. Calvin is now 10-4-1 overall.

SIOUX CENTER, IA – The Calvin hockey team will play for the Cob Cup on Saturday as the Knights improved to 2-0 in the Dordt College Clash in the Corn Tournament with a 4-1 victory over a Division II team from Wisconsin-Platteville late Friday afternoon.

SIOUX CENTER, IA—In a meeting of regionally-ranked teams, the visiting Knights of Calvin defeated the Dordt College Blades 5-2 in front of nearly 900 fans at the Vernon Arena. Ranked third in the ACHA Division III North Region, Calvin (8-4-1) used a come-from-behind effort to defeat Dordt, ranked second in the ACHA Division III Pacific Division.

Calvin College freshman Rebecca Kamp has received two of the highest honors awarded by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. A native of Orland Park, Illinois, Kamp has been named the AVCA Division III National Freshman of the Year and also an AVCA First Team Division III All-American.

GRAND RAPIDS – For the second time in three years, Calvin College head volleyball coach Amber Warners has been named Great Lakes Regional Coach of the Year by the American Volleyball Coaches Association . In addition, Calvin freshman middle hitter Rebecca Kamp has been named the Great Lakes Regional Freshman of the Year and has landed a spot on the Great Lakes All-Region team. Seven members of the Calvin women’s soccer team have received All-MIAA honors including five individuals who have been named to the All-MIAA first team.
Named to the All-MIAA first team from Calvin are senior Elizabeth Ribbens, juniors Kayla Sulzer, Allison Boender, Emily Ottenhoff and sophomore Carly Prins.
Named to the All-MIAA second team from Calvin are juniors Alyssa Bergsma and Natalie Veurink.

GRAND RAPIDS—Calvin College freshman Rebecca Kamp has been named the MIAA’s Most Valuable Player and the MIAA’s Freshman of the Year. In addition, Calvin junior Kelsey Sears has been named the MIAA’s Defensive Player of the Year.
