Calvin Baseball Players Land Spots on All-MIAA Teams

Five members of the Calvin baseball team have received All-MIAA honors. Junior Ben Sietsema and freshman Tyler Berger have been named to the All-MIAA first team while senior Nate Pocock, junior Matt Schepel and sophomore Keith Spoelstra have been named to the All-MIAA second team.
Reasoner and Klingenberg Receive MIAA Field Event MVP Awards

Calvin sophomore Sarah Reasoner has been named the MIAA Women’s Most Outstanding Field Event Performer in track and field while Calvin sophomore
Joel Klingenberg has received the same honor on the men’s side. In addition, 10 members of the Calvin women’s team have received All-MIAA honors while eight members of the Calvin men’s team have been so honored.

The All-MIAA men’s tennis teams have been announced and two Calvin players have been so honored. Named to the All-MIAA first team for the third straight year from Calvin is senior Marcus Zeilstra while Calvin senior Steve DeMaagd has been named to the All-MIAA second team for the second straight year.
Calvin Baseball Doubleheader With Olivet Postponed For Thursday

The Calvin baseball doubleheader scheduled for Thursday has been postponed until Friday, May 1, because of rain. The doubleheader on Friday is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Olivet. The two teams will then play at Calvin on Saturday in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Rain in West Michigan has also moved the MIAA Men’s and Women’s Tennis Tournaments indoors. Updated sites and times can be found on the MIAA website at:MIAA Website
The MIAA Track and Field Championships are also underway at Albion and will continue Thursday and Friday. Check out the MIAA website for more information.
Matt Schepel Named MIAA Co-Player of the Week in Baseball

For the first time in his collegiate career, Calvin College junior Matt Schepel has been named the MIAA Player of the Week in baseball. A native of Grand Rapids and a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School, Schepel shares this week’s award with Alma third baseman Jeremy Stephens.
Ben Sietsema Named MIAA Pitcher of the Week

For the second time this spring, Calvin College junior Ben Sietsema has been named the MIAA’s Pitcher of the Week. Sietsema, a junior from Ada (NorthPointe Christian HS), fired a five-hit shutout in leading the Knights to a 1-0 victory over Trine last Thursday.
Softball Doubleheader With Adrian Postponed Until Wednesday - April 15

Today’s scheduled Adrian at Calvin softball doubleheader has been postponed until Wednesday, April 15. The change was made because of the threat of rain in Grand Rapids Monday afternoon and the distance Adrian must drive for the contests.
Wednesday’s twinbill is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. at Calvin’s Gainey Field.

The latest set of Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings have been released and after the recently completed winter sports season, Calvin sits in 11th place place with 442.25 points.
Softball With Adrian Postponed - Men’s Tennis Moved to MVP Sportsplex

Calvin’s softball doubleheader with Adrian scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed because of cold weather that has swept through Michigan. A makeup date for the doubleheader has not yet been officially announced. Meanwhile, the Calvin men’s tennis match on Tuesday with Adrian has been moved to the MVP Sportsplex located on the corner of East Paris and Burton Street, just east of the Calvin campus. Tuesday’s match is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
Ben Sietsema Named MIAA Pitcher of the Week

For the first time in his collegiate career, Calvin College junior Ben Sietsema has been named MIAA Pitcher of the Week. A graduate of nearby Northpointe Christian High School, Sietsema tossed a two-hit shutout in a 6-0 win over Kalamazoo this past Saturday in Calvin’s MIAA opener. In his seven innings of work, Sietsema struck out four and walked one as he faced only 22 batters, one over the minimum.
