Elaine Schnabel and Carly Prins Named to ESPN Academic All-District Teams

Two members of the Calvin women’s soccer team have received ESPN Academic All-District IV honors. Senior Elaine Schnabel has been named to the ESPN Academic All-District IV first team in the college division while senior teammate Carly Prins has been named to the third team.
As a member of the first team, Schnabel now advances to the national ballot and is eligible for ESPN Academic All-America consideration. A two-year starter in midfield, Schnabel has two goals and six assists this year on a Calvin team that is currently 14-2-2 overall and ranked 16th by d3soccer.com. Prins is a native of Hudsonville and a graduate of Unity Christian High School. Also a midfielder, Prins is in the midst of an oustanding senior season as she has 11 goals, two assists and 24 points this fall.
Scott Hooker and Ryan Bratt Receive ESPN Academic All-District Honors

Two members of the Calvin men’s soccer team have received ESPN Academic All-District IV honors. Calvin seniors Scott Hooker and Ryan Bratt have both been named to the ESPN Academic All-District IV second team in the college division.
Both players are receiving the honor for the first time.This year, Hooker has three goals and four assists on a Calvin team that is currently 13-2-2 overall and ranked 18th nationally. Bratt is from Silver Spring, Maryland. He is a graduate of Washington Christian Academy. Last fall, Bratt became Calvin’s starting goalkeeper late in the season and has been a lynchpin of the Calvin defense since. This year, Bratt is 13-2-3 in goal with 11 shutouts and a goals-against-average of 0.45. He is currently ranked 21st nationally in goals-against-average.
Scott Hooker Named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week in Men’s Soccer

For the second time in his career, Calvin College senior midfielder Scott Hooker has been named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week in men’s soccer. Hooker, a senior from Hudsonville (Unity Christian HS), scored twice last week in leading the Knights to a pair of wins that kept them in a first-place tie in the MIAA with Hope heading into the season’s final week. He scored the game’s only goal in a 1-0 victory over Olivet, then scored an insurance goal on a penalty kick in a 2-0 win over Alma.
