Looking to bounce back after a tough 2-0 loss at Alma on Wednesday, the Women’s soccer team hosted 0-12-1 Albion on Saturday. Looking to get on the board early, the Knights came out shooting. In just the third minute of play, sophomore Kelly Koets was able to come through for Calvin as she put a deep shot on net that slipped under the crossbar and over the keeper to give Calvin the early 1-0 advantage. The Britons looked to respond quickly as in the fourth minute they forced Knights sophomore keeper Ashton Hearn into a save on a one touch shot. With 39:10 left in the first half, the Britons had another great chance as a corner kick made its way into the middle of the field where it was kicked around but eventually cleared by the Knights defense.

With a chance to move up in the standings with a win, the Knights fell short of the mark Wednesday at Alma, falling by a score of 2-0 off a pair of second half goals by Carly Reising (Otsego, MI) of the Scots.  The loss pushes Calvin to 6-8 overall and 6-4 in the conference. With fifth place Kalamazoo upsetting Adrian 1-0 on Wednesday as well, Calvin falls into a points tie with Kalamazoo for fourth place in the standings, but with the Knights owning the edge after defeating the Hornets last week 4-1.
