HOLLAND - Calvin dropped an 8-1 decision to league-leading Hope Tuesday afternoon at Holland Christian High School. The loss drops Calvin to 6-12 overall and to 4-3 in the MIAA. Calvin will close out its MIAA regular season on Saturday when it hosts Trine at 1 p.m. In the loss to Hope on Saturday, Calvin battled the Flying Dutch on fairly even terms in doubles play, losing all three points but losing by scores of 8-6 (No. 1), 8-5 (No. 2) and 8-4 (No. 3). Hope (15-7 overall, 7-0 MIAA) then took control in singles play, winning the top five singles flights including four flights where Calvin won just a combined seven games. Calvin’s lone win came from freshman Ali Roode (Jenison/Unity Christian HS) at No. 6 singles as she claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win to boost her season record to 15-3 in singles play.
Women’s Tennis Clinches Spot in MIAA Tournament With Win at Adrian

ADRIAN – Calvin improved to 6-11 overall and to 4-2 in the MIAA with a 7-2 conference dual match win at Adrian Saturday afternoon. The Knights are currently in fourth place in the MIAA standings and have now clinched a spot in the upcoming four-team MIAA Tournament. Calvin has remaining regular season league matches against Hope (April 24) and against Trine (April 28). The MIAA Tournament is slated to start on May 3 at the site of the MIAA regular season champion. Calvin is two wins ahead of Alma (4-4) but holds a head-to-head tiebreaker edge over Alma for a league tournament spot.
Women’s Tennis Defeats Saint Mary’s 6-3 to Move Into Tie For Third Place in MIAA Standings

NOTRE DAME, IN - Calvin remained in the thick of the MIAA Tournament hunt with an important 6-3 conference dual match victory at Saint Mary’s Monday afternoon. Calvin is now 5-11 overall and more importantly 3-2 in the MIAA which places the Knights in a tie for third place in the league standings with Kalamazoo. The top four teams in the final MIAA regular season standings will advance to the four-team MIAA Tournament later this month. Calvin returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Adrian for a 1 p.m. conference match.
