Women’s Tennis Opens Orlando Swing With Pair of Victories

The Calvin women’s tennis team is 3-3 overall and 2-0 on its spring trip to Orlando, Florida. On Monday, the Knights defeated George Fox 5-4 and Huntingdon College 6-3. In the win over George Fox, singles were played first with doubles played last. After singles play, the match was tied 3-3 but the Knights took two of the three doubles points with seniors Melissa Oosterhouse and Kaitlin Spoelhof winning at No. 1 doubles and freshmen Bethany Zoerhof and Lauren Schlagenhauf providing the clinching point with a win at No. 3 doubles.
Women’s Tennis Blanked by Ferris State 9-0

BIG RAPIDS - The Calvin women’s tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision at Ferris State University Tuesday afternoon. The Knights are now 1-3 on the year. Ferris State (17-4) rolled to quick wins in doubles play and kept the pressure on in singles. Calvin returns to action next Monday when it takes on George Fox College in a match in Orlando, Florida. While in Orlando, Calvin is also scheduled to face Huntingdon, St. Olaf, Wisconsin-Whitewater and Luther.
Women’s Tennis Tops Davenport 6-3 For First Win of Young Season

The Calvin women’s tennis team gained its first victory of the year, defeating Davenport University 6-3 Friday afternoon at Calvin’s Huizenga Tennis and Track Center. The Knights are now 1-2 on the year. Calvin opened the match in strong fashion by gaining wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles with seniors Melissa Oosterhoue and Kaitlin Spoelhof combining for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles and senior Michelle Busscher and sophomore Elise Doezema gaining a win at No. 2 doubles. Calvin then clinched the win with victories at No. 1, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
