Women’s Tennis Defeated by Saint Mary’s 5-4

The Calvin women’s tennis team played host to the Saint Mary’s Belles on Monday afternoon. The match was played inside the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center due to weather. The Saint Mary Belle’s game into Grand Rapids and defeated the Knights 5-4 in a hotly contested match.The loss drops the Knights to 4-3 in the conference and 7-9 overall. They will be back in action on Wednesday when they play host to Grand Valley State.

Calvin battled hard against rival Hope Saturday afternoon but came up just short in taking the outright 5-4 loss to the Dutch. After falling behind 1-2 in doubles, the Knights swept the top three singles matches and led 4-3 going into the final two singles matches but the depth of the Hope lineup prevailed.The next action for the Knights will be Monday April 18 at home against the Saint Mary’s Belles. Those matches are set to kick off at 4 p.m.
Women’s Tennis Defeats Adrian

Calvin reached the .500 mark on the season and improved to 4-1 in league play with an 8-1 win over Adrian Thursday afternoon. Adrian’s lone point came at No. 3 doubles. Calvin took the remaining two doubles points and swept the six singles flights, winning four of the singles flights in straight sets.Calvin is back in action on Saturday hosting rival Hope at 1 p.m. at the Strikwerda Tennis Courts. In the case of inclement weather, the match will be moved indoors to Calvin’s Huizenga Tennis and Track Center.
