Calvin improved to 12-2 overall and 5-0 in MIAA competition with a 9-0 win over visiting Adrian Saturday afternoon at the Strikwerda Tennis Courts. Winners for Calvin in singles play were junior Melissa Oosterhouse (Grand Rapids Christian HS), junior Kaitlin Spoelhof (Holland Christian HS), senior Elisabeth Geenen (Holland Christian HS), senior Rachel Strikwerda (Holland Christian HS), junior Michelle Busscher (Western Michigan Christian HS) and senior Rachel DeGroot (Lombard, IL).
Women’s Tennis Remains Unbeaten in MIAA Play With Win at Saint Mary’s

SOUTH BEND, IN - The Calvin women’s tennis team remained unbeaten in MIAA competition and improved to 11-2 on the season with a 6-3 victory at Saint Mary’s Wednesday afternoon. Ranked 13th in the most recent ITA Division III Regional rankings, Calvin is now 4-0 in league play while Saint Mary’s is 8-4 overall and 2-1 in MIAA competition.
Calvin took an early lead with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles with juniors Melissa Oosterhouse (Grand Rapids Christian HS) and Kaitlin Spoelhof (Holland Christian HS) teaming up for a win at No. 1 doubles and seniors Elisabeth Geenen (Holland Christian HS) and Rachel DeGroot (Lombard, IL) winning at No. 3 doubles.

ANGOLA, IN – Calvin picked up its 10th victory of the season against only two defeats on Friday as the Knights picked up a 9-0 conference victory at Trine University.
Calvin (3-0 MIAA) won all six singles flights in straight sets and lost just one game in doubles competition.
Calvin is back in action on April 7 when it travels to Saint Mary’s for a 4 p.m. conference match.

The Calvin women’s tennis team wanted to start off the MIAA regular season with a win. There is no better team for the Knights to to beat than their rivals: the Flying Dutch of Hope College. Calvin did win its season opener nipping Hope 5-4 Tuesday afternoon at the Strikwerda Tennis Courts.
The victory allowed Calvin to improve to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in MIAA play. Tuesday’s match also featured a pair of regionally-ranked teams as Hope came in ranked 12th in the ITA Division III Central Region rankings while Calvin came in ranked 13th.

ORLANDO, FL - In a matchup of regionally-ranked teams Luther defeated Calvin 6-3. Luther entered the match ranked eighth in the ITA Central Region rankings and 25th nationally while Calvin (8-2) came in ranked 13th in the Central Region.
Luther (19-2) took a 2-1 lead with victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Calvin’s No. 1 doubles team of juniors Melissa Oosterhouse (Grand Rapids Christian HS) and Kaitlin Spoelhof (Holland Christian HS) picked up an 8-3 win over Luther’s team of Kelsie Allen and Brynne Zinnecker, ranked 14th in the Central Region doubles rankings.

ORLANDO, FL The Calvin women’s tennis team upped its season record to 8-1 and its spring break mark to 4-0 with a 9-0 victory over Grinnell College Wednesday afternoon. Picking up singles victories for Calvin were junior Melissa Oosterhouse (Grand Rapids Christian HS) at No. 1 singles, junior Kaitlin Spoelhof (Holland Christian HS) at No. 2 singles, senior Elisabeth Geenen (Holland Christian HS) at No. 3 singles, senior Rachel Strikwerda (Holland Christian HS) at No. 4 singles, junior Michelle Busscher (Western Michigan Christian HS) at No. 5 singles and senior Rachel DeGroot (Lombard, IL) at No. 6 singles.
Oosterhouse is now 11-1 in singles play - all coming at No. 1 singles this spring.

ORLANDO, FL – The Calvin women’s tennis team improved to 7-1 on the year with a pair of victories Monday. Calvin opened the day with an 8-1 victory over Otterbein Monday afternoon. On Monday night, Calvin defeated Colby College of Maine 6-3 in a meeting of regionally-ranked teams. Colby entered the match ranked 15th in the Northeast region while Calvin came in ranked 13th in the Central Region.

The regionally-ranked Calvin women’s tennis team picked up a 9-0 victory over Wisconsin-Stevens Point in the opener of its spring trip to Orlando, Florida. The Knights wasted little time in improving their overall record to 5-1. Calvin returns to action on Monday for a pair of matches, facing Otterbein at noon and regionally-ranked Colby College at 5:30 p.m.

The first-ever tennis match at the newly refurbished Strikwerda Tennis Courts took place on Wednesday and the regionally-ranked Calvin women’s tennis team came away with an 8-1 victory over visiting Olivet. Ranked 13th in the most recent ITA Division III Central Region rankings, Calvin is now 4-1 overall. The victory will serve as a precursor to Calvin’s spring break trip with the Knights scheduled to leave for Orlando, Florida, on Friday. Women’s Tennis Defeats Ferris State 5-4 in Non-Conference Match Inside Huizenga T & T Center

The regionally-ranked Calvin women’s tennis team picked up a 5-4 victory over Division II Ferris State University Tuesday afternoon inside Calvin’s Huizenga Tennis and Track Center. The victory marked Calvin’s second win in the last three years over the Bulldogs. Calvin defeated Ferris State 6-3 in 2008 with Ferris State defeating Calvin 6-3 in 2009. Calvin is now 3-1 on the year.
