KENOSHA, WI - Calvin College junior Sarah Reasoner (Cambridge, MN) likely punched her ticket to next week’s NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships with a stellar series of throws in the shot put Friday night at a last-chance (indoor) meet hosted by Carthage College. An (outdoor) All-American a year ago in both the shot put and discus, Reasoner took first place in the shot put with a strong NCAA III provisional qualifying throw of 44-7 1/2 Friday night. Reasoner’s series of throws included marks of 42-4, 43-9, 43-10, 43-5, 44-7 and 44-6. Reasoner’s previous indoor best this winter had been 42-8 3/4.

A group of individuals from the Calvin men’s and women’s cross country teams have received All-Academic accolades from the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association of America.
The USTFCCCA All-Academic award honors those student-athletes who have succeeded both academically and athletically. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.3 cumulative grade point average and must finish in the top 35 among the field at their respective NCAA regional meet.

ANGOLA, IN—The Calvin men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the Trine Indoor Track and Field Invitational on Saturday. In the men’s competition, Calvin took first with 139.5 points, 29.5 points ahead of Hope. In the women’s competition, Calvin rolled up a first place total of 199 points, 71 points ahead of Hope.

ALLENDALE—The Calvin men’s and women’s track and field teams posted a pair of NCAA (indoor) provisional qualifying marks Friday night at the Grand Rapids Championshipos hosted by Grand Valley State University.
Both provisional performances came in the women’s competition. Calvin’s first provisional mark came in the women’s shot put as junior Sarah Reasoner (Cambridge, MN) took seventh in the shot put with a provisional mark of 42-8 3/4.
In the distance medley relay, Calvin’s quartet of senior Nicole Farr (Wheaton, IL), junior Rachel Boerner (Bergenfield, NJ), sophomore Kaitlin Diemer (South Christian HS) and senior Elizabeth Smit (Kirkland, WA) took first place with a provisional qualifying tie of 12:04.18.

ALLENDALE – The Calvin men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams completed competition at the two-day Grand Valley State Big Meet on Saturday.
Both teams had several standout performances including NCAA III automatic qualifying performances.

ALLENDALE - The first day of competition at the Grand Valley State Big Meet was indeed big for the Calvin men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams Friday night as both teams posted a handful of NCAA III qualifying times for the upcoming NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships.

ALLENDALE—The Calvin men’s and women’s track and field teams were in action on Friday at the Grand Valley State Open and came up with a number of strong performances.
In the women’s meet, sophomore Jordan Gabrielse (Unity Christian HS) was ninth in the 400 meters (1:01.16) in her first collegiate competition. Sophomore Kaitlin Diemer (South Christian HS) had a solid effort in the 800 meters, placing third with a time of 2:19.36. Other top 10 finishes for the Calvin women included junior Gretchen Braymer (Erie, PA) placing third in the 3,000 meters (10:37.99) and sophomore Andrea Beukema (Grand Rapids Christian HS) taking ninth (11:03.89).

ALLENDALE – The Calvin men’s and women’s track and field teams continued their indoor campaigns late Friday night at the Bob Eubanks Open hosted by Grand Valley State University.
Highlighting the evening was the performance of junior Rachel Boerner who won the 400 meters with a strong NCAA III (indoor) provisional qualifying time of 57.86.
In the women’s 5,000 meters, junior Samantha Westveer took third with a time of 18:32.73.
In the women’s pole vault, senior Joy Leach took third with an NCAA III (indoor) provisional qualifying performance of 11-9 ¾.

ALLENDALE—The Calvin men’s and women’s track and field teams opened their indoor campaigns on Friday night at the Mike Lints Alumni Invitational hosted by Grand Valley State University.
On the men’s side, Calvin’s distance contingent posted several sterling efforts led by sophomre Nick Kramer who won the 5,000 meter run with an NCAA III (indoor) provisional qualifying time of 14:51.21. Kramer was one of five Calvin runners in the top seven with sophomore Matt Vander Roest second (15:11.6), senior Aaron Goodman fourth (15:21.6), senior Tim Langenberg sixth (15:24.0) and sophomore Dan Kerr seventh (15:24.

GRAND RAPIDS—Calvin College has named Bret Otte as its head men’s and women’s track and field coach. Otte has spent the last 11 years serving as head men’s and women’s cross country coach and head men’s and women’s track and field coach at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. Otte replaces Dr. Jong-il Kim who has decided to step down as Calvin’s head men’s and women’s track and field coach to devote more time to his teaching as an associate professor in Calvin’s Health, Physical Education, Recreation Dance and Sport department and coaching of specific events as a coach with Calvin’s track and field program. Kim will remain as an assistant coach with both Calvin teams. Kim will also continue to serve as an assistant coach with the Calvin women’s soccer team and as an associate professor in Calvin’s HPERD’s department.« First < 17 18 19 20 21 > Last »
