ALLENDALE - The Calvin men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams opened their seasons on Friday night at the Bob Eubanks Open hosted by Grand Valley State University. Both teams turned in a number of noteworthy performances. On the women’s side, senior Sarah Reasoner (Cambridge, MN/Cambridge-Isanti HS) took fifth in the shot put with a strong NCAA III indoor provisional qualifying throw of 45-2 1/4. The throw is just nine inches shy of an NCAA III (indoor) automatic qualifying mark. Senior Rachel Boerner (Bergenfield, NJ/Hillcrest Lutheran Academy) also got off to a quick start, placing fourth in the 400 meter dash with an NCAA III indoor provisional qualifying time of 57.82. Because the competition was held on an oversized 300 meter indoor track, Boerner’s converted time is 58.32.
