Wittenberg Advances to Regional Final With Three-Set Win Over Heidelberg

Looking for a berth in the regional final, No. 5 Wittenberg and No. 13 Heidelberg battled for the second time this season in a second round matchup at Van Noord Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In their matchup earlier this season, Wittenberg defeated The ‘Berg in three sets at the College of Mt. Saint Joseph Invitational. On Friday afternoon, Wittenberg picked up the same result, winning by scores of 25-23, 25-22, 25-16. Wittenberg will now play in the regional final Saturday night at 7 p.m. against either Calvin or Hope.
Amber Warners Named 2011 AVCA Division III Great Lakes Regional Coach of the Year

For the third time in her collegiate coaching career, Amber Warners has been named the AVCA Division III Great Lakes Regional Coach of the Year. Under her direction, the Knights finished the 2011 regular season a perfect 31-0 , capturing the MIAA regular season MIAA Tournament titles. Heading into NCAA III Tournament play, her team was ranked number-one in the country - a position that Calvin has held since the preseason. Warners was named AVCA National Coach of the Year in 2010, and took home AVCA Division III Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors in 2006 and 2008. Heading into tonight’s second round NCAA III Tournament match, Warners has a career record of 315-67 (.825) at the collegiate level including 294-56 (.840) in 10 years at Calvin.
Four Calvin Players Named to AVCA Division III Great Lakes All-Region Teams

Four members of the Calvin women’s volleyball team have received AVCA Division III Great Lakes All-Region honors. The four Calvin players named to the all-region honor team are seniors Rebecca Kamp and Erin VanderPlas, junior Lizzie Kamp and sophomore Megan Rietema. As members of the all-region team, all four individuals are now eligible for All-America consideration.
